Celebrating World Wildlife Day

Birdlife Malta will be celebrating World Wildlife Day with a guided wildlife walk, bird ringing demonstration, birdwatching and a wildlife talk at the Simar Nature Reserve in Xemxija on Saturday. Participants will start the day earlyfor a birdwatching session. During the guided walk, different species of animals and plants will be identified and the complexity of life will be discussed. Along the way, there will be a bird- ringing demonstration and some birdwatching. One can also bring their cameras along to take some photographs or videos to capture some of the moments, with care not to disturb the wildlife. Between 10 and 11am, the group will gather at the visitor’s centre for an educational talk on the hunting and trapping situation in Malta. Participants will learn how they can be more active to aid Birdlife Malta’s efforts to protect wildlife and their habitats. There will also be some time for questions and answers and sharing of ideas. The event will take place on Saturday from 8.30 to 11am. It is free and open to all, but Birdlife Malta members will be given priority. Another session for children aged five to 10 will be held between 11.30am and 2pm. Booking will open...
