Man pleads not guilty to seriously injuring woman

A 22-year-old man from Marsascala pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring a woman in Paceville at around 2 a.m. on Sunday. Ian Zammit was also charged with harassing the woman and trying to instigate a fight. He also pleaded not guilty to breaching the peace. He was remanded in preventive custody. In a separate arraignment, Mr Zammit pleaded guilty to breaching bail conditions related to a separate case. He was jailed for one month and sent to the prison's forensic unit after his defence lawyer informed the court that he suffered from claustrophobia.
