Holy Week events in Gozo

Holy Week exhibition: For the second consecutive year, members of the youth committee within the parish of Sannat will be holding an exhibition detailing the Last Supper. The exhibition, being held at the parish hall next to the church, is open today, from 8pm to midnight and tomorrow, from 7.30 to 11am. Seven churches pilgrimage – Artals of Repose: A bus will leave St Augustine Square, Victoria at 9am tomorrow, returning at around noon. Everyone is welcome to attend. A guide will explain the significance of these visits as related to the institution of the Holy Eucharist, the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Churches in Kerċem, Santa Luċija, St Lawrence, Għarb, Ta’ Pinu, Għasri and Żebbuġ will be visited. Participation is possible without a reservation. Good Friday procession, Victory Square, Xagħra: This is one of the most devout and popular processions. Hundreds of people take part representing biblical characters. A number of participants wear hoods and carry heavy chains tied to their ankles to fulfil vows or as an act of thanksgiving to the Lord.
