Former President and Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami told a jubilant crowd on the Granaries this evening that the PN was best placed to continue to lead the country towards a secure future.
The former PN leader was invited to the stage in the last PN mass meeting of the electoral campaign by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi amid long applause and cheers.
He started his address with his characteristic Huti Maltin u Ghawdxin and said he had accepted to by present in order to thank everybody, including elderly people 'like me' whom he had also addressed some 52 years ago at his first meeting - a corner meeting in St Francis Square, Birkirkara, attended by 100 people.
What he saw before him, he said, was a huge crowd which showed how the Nationalist Party was and remained the party which was best able to lead the country from one victory to another.
Fifty years had passed in a flash, he said, because they were 50 years of unceasing work by the PN.
The party always knew where it was heading, it always had confidence in the country and its potential, it always believed in its people, and its dream had been realised.
