A theft was reported this evening at GB Jewellers in Valley Road, Birkirkara.
The police confirmed the theft, at about 8 p.m. but said no other details were available. The haul is believed to have been substantial.
An eyewitness said there was glass everywhere and a big mallet was on the floor.
It was the second major burglary today after a break-in at the Coppini foreign currency exchange in Valletta, reported in the morning.
