Contractor cleared of responsibility for employee's injury

A contractor has been cleared of causing the serious injury of a worker during the construction of a building at Tigne Point in Sliema in 2006. Nazzareno Vassallo, 57, and three of his directors Mary Ann Vassallo, 58 and Pio Vassallo, 31, from Mosta and Aldo Vella, 62, from Mellieħa, pleaded not guilty to the involuntary serious injury of Nedo Glisic on April 24, 2006. Mr Glisic had been working on a roof when he fell a height of eight meters through a hole. In her judgement, Magistrate Audrey Demicoli ruled that it was Mr Glisic who was responsible for the accident because he failed to follow instructions.
