Two cannons were yesterday mounted by Din l-Art Helwa on the roof of the 364-year-old St Agatha’s Tower, also known as the Red Tower, in Mellieħa. Completed in 1648 during the time of Grand Master Jean Paul Lascaris Castellar, the tower had five cannon of varying cailbre to protect Għadira Bay and the southern part of the Comino Channel from Ottoman Turks and the Barbary Corsairs.
