Walk into most homes this time of year and you'll most likely smell the aroma of gingerbread, freshly baked straight out of the oven. Well, if you walk into the Seabank Resort & Spa lobby, in Mellieha, your nose will certainly pick it up. But so will your eyes.
Recreating the village from the Hansel and Gretel story, the team of culinary architects designed a charming “Gingerbread Village.” It sports a functioning choo-choo train, bell towers, a lake, earthy houses, a church, Christmas trees and more. And the entire typically North European village is totally edible, except for the chugging train, of course
Around the world gingerbread is a staple of the winter holiday season. Usually baked for Christmas and often cut into all sorts of shapes, that of men being the most common, gingerbread is a popular Christmas treat at home and in bakeries.
It is from the heart of this tradion that the Seabank's talented pastry department has lovingly weaved their magic. To add a touch of the olde worlde and to enchant guests with a joyful holiday atmosphere, the Pastry Chef Gordon Ciantar and his 16-strong team built a gingerbread display on the Hansel and Gretel fairy tale.
