The two Mirage F1 fighters of the Libyan air force which have been in Malta for the past 11 months, were today towed to the Medavia facility at the airport for an overhaul.
Pilots and technicians arrived yesterday to prepare the aircraft for their return to Libya.
Sources said they will be flown back next month, either on February 17, the day marking the start of the Libyan uprising, on February 21, when the planes were flown to Malta by pilots who refused to bomb fellow Libyans.
