Jewellery thief jailed five years

A 23-year-old drug addict from Mtarfa has been jailed five years for stealing €23,000 worth of gold jewellery, cash and other objects from his great aunt. Josef Agius told the police he had stolen the jewellery from Concetta Lia of Zabbar because he had some four drug dealers pressing him for money. He was also charged with relapsing. Sources said that the jewellery has since been sold and melted down.
