Amadeo Grima, 32 of Kalkara, has been jailed for 37 months after admitting in court to having committed a hold-up on May 30, stealing €900 from nails technician Ritienne Briguglio.
The case happened when he followed and then held up Ms Briguglio after she closed her shop in Cospicua. The hold-up took place in Birkirkara and involved two persons. Ms Briguglio recognised the accused as he had visited her shop where a relative of his was being treated.
He was also convicted of relapsing and committing the crime during the operative term of a suspended sentence.
Grima was jailed for 13 months for this case and the court ordered that a suspended jail term handed down in 2009 would become effective, adding another two years to his jail term.
