'Thief' injured himself while breaking into residence

The police have arrested a man they suspect broke into a house in Mosta yesterday. He is expected to be arraigned in the coming days. The man allegedly injured himself while trying to rob the place. The police said in a statement this afternoon that they were informed of the theft, from a residence in Triq il-Manwella, at 4.10 p.m. yesterday On site, the 26-year-old owner informed them that someone had broken in and made off with some items. Preliminary investigations showed that the person had probably entered the place after breaking a window and a large quantity of blood could be seen at the residence as well as on the terrace and in the street. The police were later informed that a man had gone to hospital requesting medical assistance because he had injured his hand, but later escaped. The police said they tracked down the man and arrested him.
