New senior appointments at MIA

Malta International Airport's Chief Financial Officer Austin Calleja will be taking on the added role of deputy CEO while the head of airline marketing, Alan Borg, will take over as chief commercial officer and executive director as from July 1. MIA chairman Michael Hoeferer said these appointments were being given in the context of the challenges being faced by the industry globally, and were intended to set the company on a better footing in its endeavour to target new markets and further develop its aviation-related business segment. Mr Calleja joined the airport in 1991 and formed part of the team that helped in the airport's privatisation in 2002. He is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and a fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants. He previously worked with PriceWaterhouse (1981-87) and was chief accountant with British Airways in Malta and later in Rome as business manager Italy and the East Mediterranean (1987-91).
