Mrs Marlene Mizzi concluded a moderately strident post on her Facebook page with the following gems of wisdom: "Our young people have grown in a 25 year culture that, if you have the right patron you can get away with anything …literally get away with murder! The moral fibre of our society has been eroded and real democracy is non-existent. This is what 25 years of legal dictatorship begets!"
The lady is a Star, as you probably know, one of their "middle-class, ghala le?" entrepreneurs, drafted in to make Labour seem less unpalatable to the voters. I lifted the quote indirectly, incidentally, and my headline is a quip by David Cameron directed at some noisy Labour MP, a female of the species.
It fits, though.
So let's analyse Mizzi's dictum. According to this genius, you can get away with murder, literally, if you have the right patron. I have to work on the assumption that Mizzi knows the (literal) meaning of "literally", being as she has multiple degrees, so I have to challenge her to give chapter and verse as what murders she is talking about.
When she doesn't take up the challenge, as I know she won't, you will have every justification to classify her as a hyperbolic...
