Opposition not losing sleep on Parliamentary procedure

The Opposition is not losing sleep on Parliamentary procedure which will establish whether the Speaker will accept or block a parliamentary debate on two resignation motions. Last Thursday, Labour Whip Joe Mizzi presented two adjournment motions calling for the immediate discussion of two pending motions for the resignation of Justice Minister Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici and of Malta's EU ambassador Richard Cachia Caruana. The adjournment motions could come up for discussion next Monday but the process is not automatic. Speaking during an interview on One Radio this morning, Dr Muscat said it was clear that the Parliamentary majority wanted the motions to be debated, the people would now see what state the country's democracy was in. "Gonzi PN's hysteric reaction confirms that the government is cut off from the people and from Parliament. It is confirmation that the government is on its death bed, ready to do away with the basic principles of democracy. The Prime Minister can run but he cannot hide."
