An Egyptian was accused of misappropriating €2,000 from fellow countrymen in a scheme in which he allegedly promised to import goods but instead made off with the money.
Hany Fathy Gayed Eskander, 33, who resides in Marsa, pleaded not guilty to committing the crime in March 2009.
Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona granted him bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000.
