Former inmate accused of smuggling drugs into the prison

Francis Grech, a former prisoner was charged today with smuggling heroin into the prisons five years ago, when he was an inmate. He pleaded not guilty to smuggling the drugs and encouraging his girlfriend, Charlotte Vella, and her friend Juanita Grech to commit a crime by smuggling the drugs into jail in January 2007. Lawyer Jose Herrera represented Mr Grech while Police Inspector Victor Aquilina prosecuted.
